When should I replace my tyres?
Legally at 1.6 mm of tread; for safety, do not go below 3 mm — in the wet the grip difference is enormous — and watch the age too: from 5–6 years the rubber loses its properties even with tread left.
The advice we repeat most: check the DOT (the manufacture date stamped on the sidewall) when buying, too. A "new" tyre made four years ago has lost part of its properties in the warehouse. And beware second-hand tyres: you cannot know what impacts they carry inside, and the tyre is what stops you in an emergency. New tyres always go on in axle pairs and, if you only change two, they go on the rear — counterintuitive, but a rear axle without grip causes the spin no average driver can catch. After fitting, if the steering wheel sits off-centre, book a wheel alignment.
Frequently asked questions
Which brand do you recommend?
It depends on your use and annual mileage: 5,000 urban km is not 30,000 on the motorway. We give you two or three options with their real differences in price, lifespan and grip, and you decide.
Why do new tyres go on the rear?
Because losing the rear (oversteer) is far harder to control than losing the front. Tyre manufacturers themselves recommend it.
Do you repair punctures?
Yes, when the damage is in the tread area and within safe repair limits. Sidewall damage means replacement.
Do you handle pressure sensors (TPMS)?
Yes: careful demounting, sensor inspection and reprogramming where the model requires it.
